now we can't connect

the mail-box fell down, i noticed, early this morning. i stood at my door -ready to go out- when i saw that mr. ryle was at his mail-box wondering what he should do about it. it had fallen over. the day had started out bad. i called in to work and told them i would not being going in. so, as i stood there watching him i actually began to cry. for some ridiculous -i think- reason i felt incredible compassion for this man who's mailbox fell down. i continued to watch and he finally bent down (in his poofy brownish/beige coat and black baggy sweatpants) to try to pull the mailbox up. and then he let go and voila! it fell to the ground. i laughed. i went from crying and feeling bad for this man to laughing and enjoying what i was watching. for some reason when i had cried the first time i had this thought that this man was incapable of taking care of him self. like he was some old senial handicapped man. (which is not the case at all!) and i slapped myself out of it and remembered his wonderful personality, his english accent, and all the years he had farmed and toiled in his yard. which is why i started laughing because really what a silly situation it had been. his mailbox fell over! i'm quite sure he is a man to laugh at such a thing which is why i gave myself permission to as well. he went about it in such a cute, english man sort of way. ? . i felt i could see inside his mind exactly what he may have been thinking. speaking to himself in some jolly 'ol way (with his english accent of course! about what creative ways he could get the 'ol fellow standing again. or just thinking about how funny it is that his mail-box fell over. or perhaps hoping that he didn't lose any important mail, or hoping that he HAD lost some bills...he just bent over, picked one letter up. held it in his hand. staired at the mailbox for a few moments. pondered the whole situation. bent back down, picked it up, tried to make it stand...and plop! down it went again. so, of course back up came he and he just stood there for a few more moments. decided to bend down and pick up the rest of the mail. and just stood there some more and looked at the situation. perhaps thinking the wind a bully. so, after standing there a little more he just decided to get up and go. and go he did. now, i am back home four hours later and the mailbox is still lying there.
